Nursery management: Computer can keep tabs on security at nurseries
By Simon Vevers, Nursery World, 18 October 2007
Computer software that had been used to record the dietary needs of children and book sessions at nurseries is now being deployed to enhance security at childcare settings.
First Steps Software and the security company Teletoddler have announced a joint venture that will allow nursery managers to physically allow and monitor people's access to a nursery and to check on staff:child ratios.
Jocelyn Ashton, owner of Building Blocks Nurseries in Wimbledon, London, said, 'Our Teletoddler door entry and parental viewing systems are essential parts of our offering as a premium nursery. Integrating it with our FirstSteps software provides significant benefits both from a management perspective and from a parent's perspective.'
George Bathurst, managing director of Teletoddler, said, 'Our aim is to improve the security of children and the peace of mind of parents and carers.'
